Dr. Silas Simiyu, recipient of the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) award in 2011, is a resource development and energy expert with over 40 years of experience. He has held senior positions at organizations including KPLC, KenGen, GDC, GSI UK, and AMOCO USA, and served as the founding CEO of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC).
His expertise includes project structuring, strategic planning, fundraising, and development projects, particularly in the energy sector. He has also worked as a consultant for the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Kuwait Development Fund, advised regional governments, and served as Energy Advisor to the President of Kenya. He has published international research and lectured on renewable energy and public-private partnerships at IRENA and Masdar Institute in Abu Dhabi.
