Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), under Horizon Europe and managed by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), have the objective to attract and retain talents in Europe. The MSCA fund excellent research and innovation as well as equip researchers at all stages of their career with new knowledge and skills, through mobility across borders and exposure to different sectors and disciplines. The MSCA do not only have a positive impact on individual researchers, but also contribute to the development of excellent doctoral programmes, postdoctoral training programmes, and collaborative research projects across academic and non-academic organisations. Since the launch of these actions, MSCA have become the European Union’s reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training.

The MSCA programme consists of 5 actions, targeting different objectives:

1. Doctoral Networks: to implement doctoral programmes by partnerships of organisations from different sectors across Europe and beyond. In detail, to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate creativity, enhance innovation capacities, and boost employability in the long-term.
2. Postdoctoral Fellowships: to support for transnational recruitment of experienced researchers.
3. Staff Exchange: to encourage collaborations between organisations through staff exchanges.
4. COFUND: to provide funding for regional, national, and international programmes for training and career development, through co-funding mechanisms.
5. MSCA and Citizens: to bring research and researchers closer to the public at large.
